1. Become an expert.

Thoroughly research the topic you intend to write articles about. You must write from a position of knowledge. Writing from first-hand experience is best of all, but a properly researched article will win hands down over an article that has been shoddily put together without much effort at researching the subject.

2. Write for your audience.

It helps if you have a particular person or group of people in mind when you are writing. Think about what they hope to get from your article, what problems they need solved, or what they want to find out. This will enable you to write for the reader instead of for yourself. If your readers feel you are talking to them and trying to help them rather than just spouting for the sake of it, they will enjoy reading your articles and get more benefit from them.

3. Proof read.

Always proof read your articles and edit them as necessary. If you are not entirely happy with an article, save it on your hard drive for a couple of days and then try reading it again. Having a fresh eye for the article will make it easier for you to spot what is wrong; you will often find that a small amount of editing will bring the article up to the right standard.
